Up to 190 new homes set to be built in Durham and Darlington

Around 190 new homes are set to be built in Durham and Darlington as part of a £20m project that will also see new communal areas being built, a recent report in the local business media has been able to reveal.

Areas across the county, such as Ferryhill and Newton Aycliffe, will benefit from the new homes for affordable rent as well as private sale, with construction at the first development location expected to start in September later this year at the Oak Tree Pub site in Newton Aycliffe.

All building work will be carried out by Gentoo Construction, who has has been named the preferred contractor for this project.

The development will comprise eight two-bedroom apartments for affordable rent, especially for people aged 55 and over.
