Time and Attendance Systems are Mission Critical for Distribution Centres

Being able to accurately and precisely monitor employee attendance is a vital feature for distribution centre managers, who require exact information on the number of people on site at any given moment, to be able to forecast manning levels, etc.

This will also apply to Online grocery retailer Ocado is set to create more than 200 jobs in Peterborough with the opening of a new 48,000 sq ft distribution facility in the city.

Ocado, which receives an average of 167,000 orders per week, currently services Peterborough and surrounding Cambridgeshire from a distribution centre located in Hatfield, almost 65 miles away.

The company said its new Peterborough facility would provide a “far more comprehensive logistical location for covering the eastern regions”.

Richard Jones, director at Barker Storey Matthews, said: “We are delighted to announce that Ocado will be joining the city of Peterborough. This is a fantastic piece of news for employment within the area, especially considering the site that Ocado has taken was formerly the location of City Link who went into administration in January 2015 at a loss of 50 jobs.

“The letting has been in place for some time, however Ocado has been involved in an extensive fit-out of the property with the announcement delayed in order to coincide with the commencement of operations on site.”
