Solid growth in manufacturing segment recorded across East Midlands

Manufacturers across the East Midlands seem to be going through a very positive period right now, given the fact that they’re reporting the highest increase in orders balances than any other region, according to a new survey.

So, as a news article reveals, the manufacturing outlook report, by EEF and BDO, showed both output and orders for the region’s manufacturers strengthened in the past quarter to a balance of +31 per cent and +54 per cent respectively, compared with -10 per cent and 14 per cent in the first three months of 2013.

Additionally, East Midlands manufacturers appear confident that output will continue to improve (to 40 per cent) in the next three months, but they are less optimistic of new work coming though with forecasting at a lower – but still positive – balance of 38 per cent.

Despite a solid three months, the number of companies looking to invest has fallen slightly, with the percentage balance of those in the East Midlands planning to increase capital expenditure dipping to +17 per cent from +19 per cent in the first quarter.
