Eight new schools to be built in Birmingham under the Construction West Midlands framework

One of the UK’s largest construction contractors will build eight schools in the Birmingham region under the Construction West Midlands (CWM) framework, a recent news report in has been able to reveal.

Morgan Sindall is in a consortium arrangement with its sister company Lovell on the multi-contractor CWM framework. The consortium, known as Community Solutions, had its role on Lot 7 of the framework, which covers major capital projects with a value in excess of £500,000, extended this year.

The firm has announced it is currently underway with work to develop two schools, with the rest to follow over the next few years.

Richard Fielding, area director at Morgan Sindall, said: “Both schools are undergoing transformations to enhance the learning environment for pupils under the CWM framework.

“The extensions on each school will allow for a higher pupil intake and give the teachers more space.”
