Aldi plans expansion in Greater Manchester area, will create up to 400 new jobs
Supermarket retail chain Aldi has just revealed plans to extend into the Greater Manchester area in the near future, a move that will see up to 400 new jobs being created over the next couple of years, according to a news report on the matter.
The company will apparently relocate from its current site at Stakehill Industrial Estate, in Middleton, to a new 441,320 sq ft centre on 35 acres at junction 4 of the M61, near Bolton.
In the five years after opening the new hub, Aldi said it expected to create an additional 100 jobs at the distribution centre and 300 posts in new stores across the North West where it already has 90 shops. Furthermore, no jobs should be lost in the move, since all staff members employed at its current site will also be offered jobs in the following one.
Giles Hurley, regional managing director for Aldi, said: “Aldi has been based in Stakehill for more than 20 years and everyone who has worked here during that time has played a significant part in the continued growth of the company both here in the North West and across the UK. This growth has meant the current premises are no longer fit for purpose and, by moving, we will have not only bigger and better facilities for staff but also the added space to sustain our success.”
