Up to 1,000 new homes set to be developed in Leeds

Two of the UK’s largest residential developers have managed to secure a £142 million contract which will see 1,000 new homes developed in Leeds, a news report has been able to find.

Working in partnership with the city council, Keepmoat and Strata will redevelop 13 sites of brownfield land in the Seacroft, Halton Moor and Osmandthorpe regions. The extensive scheme aims to deliver ‘affordable’ homes and create employment/training opportunities for local people over the next eight years.

As a major landowner, the council has committed to ensuring development takes place on brownfield land. Around 70% of all new homes are being delivered on brownfield sites in Leeds.

Ian Hoad, operations director for Keepmoat in Yorkshire, said: “With 95% of our developments built on brownfield land we are perfectly placed to deliver this scheme and we’re thrilled to have been selected as chosen developer alongside Strata.

“Working in partnership with Strata will allow us to accelerate the delivery of these new homes, with the target of achieving 150 properties per annum.

“We aren’t just taking one development in one part of the region. We are completely overhauling three neighbourhoods and potentially putting nearly 1000 people in the region on the property ladder.”

Without a doubt, work on the new site will involve a fairly large number of contractors and sub-contractors.
