In the era of flexible/remote working, clocking-in systems still play a major role
Although more people are working flexibly and remotely than ever before, personnel management experts believe that clocking-in and out (recording time spent doing work-related activities) is still extremely important for a variety of reasons, including making the payroll process easier and creating a trusting and rich company culture.
Clocking in is a simple and effective way for companies to monitor whether employees are working their contractual hours. The same goes for their allocated breaks – making sure that employees take their breaks when they’re supposed to, and also that they don’t exceed their daily allocated break quota.
Other benefits include the prevention of long working hours and the danger of burnout – meaning that managers can make sure that workers are not repeatedly working additional hours, as frequently working extra hours can cause employees to burnout, to feel stressed or lead to sickness absence.
Time and Attendance UK – suppliers of advanced software solutions equipped with mobile workforce management applications
Our software suite includes a Mobile Self Service Module app, which enables employees to:
- Clock IN or OUT
- Request a period of absence
- View their remaining leave entitlements, recent clocking history and current flexitime balance
- Book ON or OFF production jobs
- Receive notifications when requests are approved or rejected.
- Supervisors are able to see subordinate work colleague’s time sheets and approve or deny their absence requests. Management of requests is made easy with the aid of a consolidated calendar showing the absence of all subordinate employees.
The Mobile SSM implements role based security allowing you to easily choose which combination of features employees will have access to. Disabled features, such as the ability to view flexitime, will simply not appear at all.
The application adapts to a sudden loss of connectivity by storing requests on the iPhone. Directly a network connection is re-established any stored information is transferred immediately.
Mobile clockings and job bookings, once submitted, are transferred to the central application and the employee’s geographical position is also ascertained from their iPhone’s location. Employee movements recorded in this manner are plotted on a map viewable in the main application.
