Services firm to cut 11% of UK workforce
A services firm has revealed plans to cut around 11% of its UK workforce, or around 280 permanent positions from its subsea departments, a news report has been able to reveal.
Aker Solutions has about 15,000 permanent employees, of which approximately 2,500 are in the UK. The company said a “continued market slowdown” had forced it to reduce its personnel, mainly across the Aberdeen and London offices, and has already started consultation with the employees affected by this decision.
David Clark, Aker Solutions’ regional head for Europe and Africa, said: “These are tough but necessary measures to help ensure we stay competitive during a challenging time for our industry.”
