Parcel delivery company to go on recruitment drive

A parcel delivery company has revealed plans to create 60 new jobs across the East of England, a news report has been able to reveal.

DPD has confirmed it is recruiting 58 new drivers to join its expanding owner-driver franchise programme in Peterborough and Snetterton (Norfolk), while also creating around 130 jobs in Dartford, Maidstone, Reading and Exeter.

The new initiative is part of the group’s ongoing expansion, since DPD is creating more than 1,000 new full-time driver jobs in the UK this year alone. Plus, the firm also suggested that its new £100m parcel hub at Hinckley in the East Midlands is now complete and the facility will open in September 2015, creating another 1,000 full-time jobs.

Chief executive Dwain McDonald said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of the nation’s favourite parcel delivery company and effectively run your own business. We are looking for people who are passionate about delivering a great customer service and being their own boss.

“We have invested in our technology, our people and our infrastructure consistently for a number of years now, so our drivers have the very best tools for the job and the level of support you’d expect from a successful and award winning company.”
