University of East Anglia to build new student accommodation in Norwich

Plans submitted by University of East Anglia to build a new student accommodation that offers up to a total of 915 bedrooms have received planning permission, with construction work set to start in the near future, a recent news report in the local media has been able to reveal.

The four accommodation blocks, ranging in height from three to eight storeys high, are set to be constructed at the former Blackdale School site off Bluebell Road. The site is currently used as faculty teaching, and had been used by the university’s school of law before it moved to Earlham Hall.

A University of East Anglia spokesman said: “We are delighted that planning consent for the re-development of the Blackdale site has been granted.

“We hope that the investment to provide aspirational student accommodation will further enhance our students’ experience.”
