Skanska set to create close to 1,500 new jobs in the UK

A major UK-based construction company has revealed plans to create up to 1,500 jobs around the country, in order to meet the increased demand brought about by all the new contracts it has managed to win.

Building giant Skanska will need the extra workforce in order to complete major rail, water, building and roads contracts won by the company and is looking forward to a period of planned growth and expansion. To fuel this growth, Skanska will be increasing its workforce in a range of sectors, a recent news report in the business media has revealed.

In particular, there will be a focus on construction and infrastructure contracts, including commercial building in London and projects for health and pharmaceutical clients, as well as across the road, rail, utilities and energy sectors.

“With more focus on infrastructure investment, we have seen our visible pipeline of new work growing strongly during the last nine months, giving us increased confidence about the future,” said Mike Putnam, President and CEO, Skanska UK. “Having the right people with the right skills in the right numbers is therefore a priority for us. We are accelerating our recruitment activity significantly across all our operations, to fill roles at all levels of the company and in many parts of the UK.”
