Building work to start on £4.8 million housing development in Wombwell

Construction firm Lovell is set to start construction work on a £4.8 million development comprising 50 affordable apartments for older residents in Wombwell, near Barnsley, a brand new media report has recently revealed.

All of these new apartments are meant to be used by people aged over 55 and are are being developed by South Yorkshire Housing Association (SYHA).

The development will create 28 one-bedroom and 22 two-bedroom self-contained apartments as well as communal facilities and landscaped grounds including a residents’ garden.

“We are very pleased to have the support of Barnsley Council for this project, which will contribute to regenerating the Wombwell community,” said SYHA development manager Joanne Hill.

“Through our partnerships with the HCA, Lovell and Barnsley Council, SYHA will contribute to creating new jobs here, training young people, and providing new quality homes near Wombwell’s High Street, which is good for the local economy. Our architects are proud to offer an attractive new apartment building for Wombwell’s over-55 residents.”
