Hastings-based training provider goes into administration, sheds jobs

New Career Skills Ltd, a provider of plumbing and electric courses, had make around 50 members of staff redundant after going into administration, a new report in the local business media has revealed.

The company offers training through home study and practical training at three centres in Doncaster, Southampton and Watford, and is currently engaged with 1,500 students. It went into administration at the end of November, and one of the first measures announced by the administrators (appointed by KPMG) was to shut down the Southampton training centre has been closed and 54 of 83 members of staff across the company.

Despite the layoffs, the administrators have revealed that training will continue to be provided to all students, including those based at Southampton who will receive training through alternative means.

One of the administrators said: “In recent months, the company has suffered from a substantial deterioration in its finances, which prompted the directors to appoint administrators.

“While we assess the options for the business, it is our intention to continue to provide training to those students who are already engaged on learning programmes.”
