MITIE wins £30m bid for carrying out energy improvements across 2,000 Southampton homes

Services delivery company MITIE has managed to secure a £30m contract for implementing energy efficiency improvements across over 2,000 council properties in Southampton over the next 18 months, a news report in the local business media has revealed.

The scheme will involve installing insulation, improved heating systems, new windows and other related home improvements for Southampton City Council’s tenants and private households and is very likely to also help reduce carbon emissions across the Council’s housing stock and reduce fuel bills in some of the least energy efficient properties.

The partnership will form the basis of a unique delivery model to be rolled out to other Housing Authorities across the South of England.

Ruby McGregor-Smith CBE, chief executive of MITIE, said: “This new partnership with Southampton City Council will help reduce fuel bills and carbon emissions across their entire housing estate.
