Car maker Jaguar set to create 1,700 new jobs
Car maker Jaguar has just announced plans to create up to 1,700 new jobs at its plant in Solihull as part of a £1.5bn investment in expanding its product range, a news report in the media has revealed.
The announcement was made at the Frankfurt Motor Show by JLR chief executive Ralf Speth, who also revealed that these huge funds will be used mainly for the development of systems that will enable the chassis of future models to be made out of aluminium.
The design teams will be creating what they call an aluminium architecture, which is the part of the car on which the bodywork, seats and engine sit. The first car using the aluminium platform will be a mid-sized sports saloon car smaller than other Jaguar models and is likely to be introduced as soon as 2015.
